Harold Bullock - Senior Pastor

Harold Bullock is the founder and Senior Pastor of Hope Church. Pastor Harold and wife Deborah started Hope in 1978. They have been married 37 years and have three children ages 19 to 28. Harold now leads Hope's congregation of 800+ to move forward in its mission. (Full Bio)

Harold Bullock is the founder and Senior Pastor of Hope Church, an innovative church in Fort Worth, Texas. Hope began in 1978 with a vision to help start churches in the major cities of the world. During the past 25 years, people going out from Hope have planted more than sixty churches.

Harold grew up in northeast Tennessee and graduated from East Tennessee State University (ETSU) in 1967 with a double major in mathematics and chemistry. He pursued graduate studies in physical chemistry at ETSU and Ph.D. work in physical chemistry at the University of Southern California. He has worked as a research chemist and taught chemistry in college.

Harold began full-time ministry in Los Angeles. As staff member for an Association of churches, his responsibility was starting student ministries on campuses in the eastern L.A. region.

In 1974, Harold and his wife Deborah moved to Fort Worth, Texas to attend Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. They both graduated with the Master of Divinity degree in May, 1977. In January 1978, they began Hope as a mission of James Avenue Baptist Church.

During the 1980's, Harold traveled widely for the Home Mission Board speaking in Urban Evangelism forums. He also did conferences for the Student Work Department. Starting in the 1990's, he has lectured at numerous church planting conferences and has taught occasional courses at Golden Gate Seminary, Midwestern Seminary, and New Orleans Seminary.

Harold has authored a series of science fiction books for elementary school children called the Tarlian Adventures. The first three books book in the series, The Battle for the Worlds, The Crystal Castle and The Dragon of Raldan are in publication. The fourth book, The Dreamweaver, will be released soon. Also in print is Silver 4, the first book in the Silver Beach action-adventure series for teens. Harold has authored several non-fiction books including Sharper Strokes, Fools & Follies, Self-Defeating Strategies, and Reading God's Lips.

Harold's wife, Deborah, is a native of Oklahoma, and a graduate of UCLA. She is a former newspaper feature writer and worked in Pasadena, California, as an administrator in urban renewal. She originally designed the communications system for Hope Church. From 1995 to 2000, Deborah worked part-time for Hope, developing the Children's Ministry and creating the Youth Ministry. Currently she works as a volunteer writing Hope's innovative curriculum for kids.

Harold and Deborah have three grown children Jessica, Gina, and Jon.

Advisory Team

Jim Anderson

Jim serves on Hope's Advisory Team. He is a managing director of a private equity firm in Fort Worth, TX. He and his wife Jane have been a part of Hope since 1988. They have been married 22 years and have 4 children. Jim is the strategic leader of the Grow ministries in Hope Life.

Randy Boyts

Randy, a Sr. Vice President of an investment firm, serves on the Advisory Team. He and his wife Teresa have been married for 30 years and have been members of Hope for 29 years. They have four grown children. Randy heads up the Connection facet of the Hope Life ministries.

Randy Meinen

Randy is the owner of a local business and has been a member of Hope since 1987. He and Sallie, his wife of 22 years, have two sons. Randy now serves on the Advisory Team at Hope and leads the Reach division of Hope Life.

Program Staff

Jerry Roberts - Associate Pastor

Jerry joined the Hope staff in 1998, and is responsible for the administration of the office, facilities, and grounds management of the church. He also heads up Hope's Advisement Ministry and Care & Recovery Ministries. He and his wife Carol have three children and five grandkids.

Matt Sturdevant - Associate Pastor

Matt is responsible for our Guest Ministries, Men's/Women's Ministries, overseeing Hope Life, Marketing and Outreach. He's been working hard to help the adults of Hope grow, reach and connect since February 2006. Matt and his wife Jessica have been married six years.

Jessica Sturdevant - Director of New Ministry Development

Jessica has been working with the Hope staff since July of 2005 and is responsible for developing the Arts, Worship, Communications and Connection ministries at Hope. Jessica provides direction in the use of arts and developing marketing and communications for Sunday services and for outreach into the community.

Rhonda Gayle - Director of Women's/Children's Ministries

As a volunteer leader, Rhonda pioneered the project for Hope to develop a new elementary children's curriculum. She joined Hope staff as Director of Children's Ministries in January of 2006. Soon after this, Rhonda's role expanded to include being Director of Women's Ministries. Rhonda and her husband Kyle have five children.

Todd Dunham - Associate Pastor, Student Ministries

Todd joined Hope staff as a Pastoral Intern in July 2007 after moving to Fort Worth from Elizabeth, CO. In June of 2008, Todd transitioned from Intern to Associate Pastor over Student Ministries. He personally leads the High School Ministry and oversees the Jr. High and College Ministries. Todd has a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Wyoming and a Masters of Theology from Golden Gate Seminary. Todd joins Hope with a ten year background in student ministry, teaching and coaching. He and his wife Denise have four boys.

Brian Cropp - Assoicate Pastor, Arts, Worship & Events

Joining Hope staff in February of 2006, Brian is responsible for developing and producing videos for Hope and leading Studio 1750. Brian also manages print productions for the Communications Ministry. He and his wife Glenda have been married six years.

Office and Support Staff

David Ludwig - Assistant Office Manager
David joined Hope Staff in August of 2001 and is responsible for assisting staff with special projects, day-to-day operations, managing the database, and distribution of communications pieces.

Walter Hardeman - Web Developer
Walter joined Hope's support team in July of 2007 as the web developer and is responsible for the creation, development and managing of all of Hope's web-related projects.

Ben McSpadden - Administrative Assistant to Pastoral Staff
Ben joined Hope's support team in January of 2008. He handles general administrative and clerical duties.

Murphy Britton - Custodial Services
After working part-time for Hope for the past few years, Murphy joined Hope's Support Staff full-time in October 2007. He is responsible for a variety of jobs related to care and maintenance of the building.

Laura Hobbs - Secretary
Laura joined Hope staff in August of 2006. She is responsible for general office and clerical duties, assisting the Women's and Children's Director and writing for the Communications Department.

Associate Staff

Christian Williams - Senior Pastor, Breakthrough Church
(a mission of Hope Church)

Christian joined Hope staff in June of 2006 as an Associate Pastor over Student ministries. In May 2008, he was called to be the pastor at Breakthrough Church in Arlington. Christian has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University, and is pursuing a Masters of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He came to Hope with a background in engineering and Christian Education. At Boeing, he worked as an engineer and just prior to Hope, he served at a local Christian High School. As an educator, he taught Bible and Algebra 2, coached baseball and served as the Disciplinary Assistant to the Principal. Christian and his wife Sarah have three children.
